I'm so happy this work trip is in Music City! I'm here with my boss for the ACCIS summer conference. Hoping to pick up a few tips and tricks to make my job easier. I went for a run this morning around Vanderbilt's beautiful campus, got my toes painted, ate a delicious sandwich from Kay Bob's restaurant, and took an official tour of Vandy. Off to the opening conference session...

ST, day 6. 

Three hour layover! Kill me!

I'm so sore from sitting on that charter bus all week - and doing squat jacks with the counselor boot camp crew every other morning. So, I got a mani and sat in the massage chair at Express Spa for over an hour. Maybe I really like the Atlanta airport now!!

ST, day 5, part 2. 

I ended my trip with a visit to Bama! Roll tide, roll. We learned a lot about The University of Alabama's DI athletic facilities and accolades. Saw the football training center, the crystal footballs and trophies, and the play room (before they closed the curtains on that one). A wonderful visit to the president's mansion on campus - a pre-Civil War antebellum home. I could've sat on that front porch, with my bourbon on the rocks and the breeze blowing, all night! But, we went to Chuck's downtown for dinner and there learned about academics and ways to make the huge university seem smaller.

ST, day 5, part 1. 

Mississippi State University. Another land grant university. Saw the baseball dressing room (apparently they're pretty good or something) had a cheese tasting, and heard from the prez (way cool for a huge school). Toured campus and saw the large animal vet school and spay/neuter mobile unit. And ate muscadine ripple ice cream made in their very own creamery! Hail State!

Sweet Tea, day 4, part 1. 

What a fantastic visit to LSU! The admission team made sure we were welcomed (all the bells, whistles, sweet tea, and even a police escort) and delivered a program that showcased the school. The students have fabulous opportunities and are cared for by the faculty and staff - I got much more of a sense of this here than at any other similarly gigantic university I have visited. And, we got to see a giant kitty cat. I'm happy. Geaux Tigers! Love purple, live gold.

Out and about downtown. First stop: the Balcony Music Club. Awesome live jazz music! 

Second stop: Bourbon Street. What a shit show! We had a lot of fun but it certainly wasn't what I expected. Way more Duvall St. in Key West than Champs-Elysees in Paris. We hung out in the courtyard of Pat O'Brien's bar for awhile - the birthplace of the hurricane. Have fun!
