I took my boss, Karen, to one of my favorite burger joints in the northeast: Louis' Lunch. It's a tiny, tiny place in New Haven that probably hasn't been remodeled since it was opened in 1895. Here at Louis', they claim the invention of the hamburger. I don't know if they really invented this sandwich, but I don't care. It's THE best burger! You certainly have to be a carnivore to eat here - you see the raw patties become hot, medium-rare treats in the original cast iron mini-ovens right before your eyes. What a neat little spot. There's nothing else like it. No ketchup allowed!
